12/366: a bare block

Before we moved into our house, every now and then we would visit to view its progress. I am hugging the house in case you are not sure why I am standing at the back corner of the building. I swear it is not the naughty girl’s corner. One may also wonder what this entry is doing in a garden blog, but it is to prove how we started with a shell on a block. Ironically, the only plants in the whole “garden” were two nasty, pesky pittosporums, but at that stage were better than nothing.

The block measures 61 feet by 210 feet deep, which is almost 1/3 of an acre. It used to be known as the Australian dream to own 1/4 acre block with a (usually) brick veneer house on it. Almost 27 years later we are still here, having created a garden from a blank canvas, now realising it is a never-ending task to create and maintain. But at the end of the day, it is a labour of love.
